Game-Changing Hair Tips You Should Already Know
Bad hair days; we’ve all unfortunately had them (insert sad emoji here). Depending on your hair type, you might have dealt with frizziness, damage, split ends, hair loss, dandruff, greasy hair, or thinning - the list goes on and on really - but the good news is that for every problem comes with it a solution, and we at VogaCloset are super excited to share a few with you. Want to know what tips and tricks you might gain from just reading on? Go right ahead!
1- Wash your hair based on your hair type
When it comes to washing your hair, there’s no one size fits all. What works for someone with oily hair will definitely wreak havoc on someone with dry hair. As a general rule, if you have extremely dry hair, limit your washing to twice a week. If you have an oily scalp, washing your hair on alternate days can help.
2- Avoid chemicals when you can
While you can’t control the damage to your hair caused by environmental factors, you can control what you use to clean and nourish your hair. When possible, it’s best to choose hair products with the least amount of chemicals for healthier hair. Sulfates and parabens in shampoos are used for lathering and preserving respectively, but they can cause skin irritation over time and increase the risk of hormonal disruptions.
3- Dry and style your hair naturally
Natural is always better. You’ve heard that once or twice (or over a hundred times), right? Well, that’s because it’s no lie. The same goes to drying and styling your hair. Whenever you can, let your hair air-dry - there’s absolutely no need to be adding more heat damage to your hair. Want to wake up with beach waves? Give your slightly damp hair a nice braid before bedtime and voila, waves for days (okay, one day).
4- Dry your hair properly
When you get out of the shower, what do you do to dry your hair? If your answer is “Duh, use my towel.”, then you’re already causing unwanted damage to your hair since traditional towels are rough on your hair cuticles and damage your hair over time. For best results, use a hair wrap or even an old t-shirt for drying.
5- Your comb choice matters
Something as small as your comb (literally) matters. When hair is wet, it is fragile and is most prone to breakage. So before you start combing those locks, make sure to let your hair dry a little and use a wide-toothed comb to avoid further damage.
6- Oils are your friend
Yes, I’m also talking to those with already greasy hair. Before shampooing your hair, give your scalp a little oily treat by massaging it with your favorite hair oil. This pre-washing ritual does wonders - from improving blood circulation, relaxing the muscles, boosting shine and nourishing the hair - all aiding in giving you your healthiest hair yet.
