Do's and Don'ts of Color Blocking
Color blocking is one of the year’s biggest trends - and to many, the biggest challenge. So many questions quickly come to mind: How do you color block? How do you choose colors? How do you know the colors you chose complement one another? With all these doubts, it gets pretty overwhelming - we totally get it. But hear us out, there’s absolutely no need to give up color blocking altogether because we’re making things a tad easier for beginner color blockers. Check out these important do’s and don’ts to get you started on your color blocking journey:
Do’s
Do look at the color wheel
When unsure of which two colors to combine, refer to the trusty color wheel.
Do keep your body type in mind
Depending on your body type, allot brighter colors to the smaller areas of your body, and darker colors to the larger areas.
Do use the color black to break the ice
Whenever you feel too overwhelmed, don’t be scared to add a hint of black where you can - whether it be shoes or a belt.
Don’ts:
Don’t overdo it with accessories
Color blocking is the major accessory, so keep the accessorizing to a minimum.
Don’t wear bright makeup
You don’t need to add a pop of color to your face, too. When color blocking, it’s best to stick with nudes.
Don’t combine neons
Two neons is NOT better than one, trust us on this. When it comes to neons, neutrals are best.
